First 90 days: what actually worked, not what the guides say

I went full time in January and kept a log, because every guide I read was written by someone selling a course. What worked: telling roughly forty people I had left my job. Three of them became clients within six weeks. Two of those three came from people I had not spoken to in over a year. What did not work: a portfolio site, Twitter, and eleven cold emails that got one reply and it was a no. The ratio was so lopsided it embarrassed me. I spent most of February on the website.
